PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
After only a decade of use, the Quabbin Regional High School skylight had deteriorated beyond repair, and its ability to perform had been compromised by repeated leaks, thermal and wind movements, and yellowing to the point that it was non-compliant with energy and state building codes. The skylight was replaced with our Quadwall® translucent skylight system to achieve maximum daylighting without any glare for the multi-purpose space below that serves as a gym, cafeteria, and more for its students. RTS recommended the Quadwall system because it doesn’t rely on sealants, and it gave the thermal performance value, a U-value of 0.10 center of glazing, and aesthetic that Quabbin was looking for. The 8,950 sq. ft. project was specified in clear over clear matte glazing, and has already made a huge impact since its installation.
